Who we are
With the passion and the love for the art of the Cretan Knife as our guide, our workshop has been passed down for generations focusing on preserving the tradition as well as following the everyday needs. Grandpa, Apostolos Pahtikos, after 65 years of devotion to the Cretan knife meets his son, Michalis Pahtikos, the capable successor of our workshop, who for forty years, has been keeping the tradition alive by adding his character in it, as he creates his own unique knives with materials of exceptional quality.
Tradition
Some of the materials that we use are bones, horns, olive wood as well as other kinds of wood like the one of aspalathos, a small prickly bush. Our handmade knives are heated in the furnace and then they are forged and quenched (hardened). The island of Crete, a Cretan saying and of course our brand name, ”Armenis”, a name with a great history, are engraved on the blades.
Our workshop, as well as the exhibition of our knives can be found on 14, Sifaka Street, also known as the famous ”Mahairadika” area of the old town of Chania.
